The Carter Brothers, Dr. Sterling Carter and Stephen Levi Carter, M.B.A., co-founders of Sterling Staffing Solutions, have announced the launch of a four-city tour that teaches business lessons to aspiring entrepreneurs on how to scale their business and achieve millionaire status. There will also be a focus on attaining generational wealth.

Corporations both large and small are undoubtedly focused on increasing employee productivity. According to one study by the Workplace Research Foundation, simply increasing employee engagement investments by 10 percent can increase an organization’s profits by $2,400 per employee per year. This is just one example, but the fact remains that it is worth your time to develop strategies to raise your employees’ productivity.
The List will be ranked by companywide revenue growth between fiscal year 2016 and fiscal year 2018. To qualify, companies must be for-profit, privately held and have headquarters in the Houston area. They also must have been in operation for at least five fiscal years by Dec. 31, 2018.

Every year we call for nominations for the best black-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs across industries and the country. This year the Black Enterprise community nominated movers and shakers across the board for family business, teenpreneur, techpreneur, and franchise owner of the year. And for some business owners, they make it a goal of theirs to be recognized by Black Enterprise as an award winner. The chamber’s top business honor, the Pinnacle Award, honors local businesses run by African American entrepreneurs that have achieved the height of success and positively impacted their communities.
This year’s event came as larger black-owned companies and entities that advocate, do business with, and support small black-owned businesses in Houston and surrounding areas are helping those entrepreneurs rebound from the massive storm.
